May 04, 2005 By: Fran Christie Gas Grills - Not Sure What to Look for in a BBQ?Summer is finally here and the smell of sizzling steaks, hot off the grills in your neighborhood are a sure sign. Not sure what type of grill would be best for you? First, start with the basics. Grilling is divided into two camps. Gas grills and charcoal grills. Next, ask yourself how much do you like to grill and how often do you intend to entertain? Does your family get involved? And lastly, what do you like and not like about grilling?
If you prefer convenience and less clean-up, then the gas grill is the way to go. Gas grills are easy to start, they are constructed in a way that allows for the proper heating distribution and cooking. The filtering of smoke and the concentration of heat in a gas grill provide for safe cooking. With different size options, you can choose a relatively large grill that will accommodate a large family or frequent entertaining, or a smaller grill for strictly for your pleasure. If you are a BBQ oficionado, it is important to find a grill that meets your cooking requirements and specifications. Height adjustments, metal wieght, cooking features, not to mention ease of cleaning are all considerations when purchasing your first barbeque grill.
On the other hand, if you like the ritual of barbequing, piling the charcoal, and don't mind the clean up, then a charcoal grill might be for you. The advantage of charcoal grilling, according to countless taste tests, is the flavor it produces. The smoke that is produced from a charcoal grill actually enhances the flavor of the food being grilled. Overall, charcoal grills win out. The best way to find out which appeals to your grilling style is to try both.
