Patio Privacy Screen - A Few Things to Consider |
|
February 21, 2005 By: Fran Christie Patio Privacy Screen - A Few Things to ConsiderFirst thing to think about is whether you can make use of any structure that is already on your property? Is there a garage that can be softened with some clinging vines or a fence that can be extended or have some height added to it? Many towns have bylaws that restrict the height of man made structures, but a cedar hedge can generally grow as high as it wants without restrictions. If you need a privacy screen for your patio that restricts sound, a solid structure is a better option; once again these can be softened with plants and vines. Be aware that if you build a large flat structure like a wooden or masonry fence you must consider the power of the wind. These structures can be blow over is you live in an area that experiences strong winds.
