Tapestry fabrics come in patterns of bears, fish, cats, dogs, a wide variety of florals, celestial, cabins, waves, wild animals and more. They also are available in bold stripes and solid, fade resistant colors. There are designs and colors to satisfy any homemaker’s color scheme or decorating theme. If you choose to sew your own cushions or items for your patio with waterproof breathable fabrics you should seal your seams with liquid seam sealer or iron on seam tape to ensure a waterproof seam. When purchasing ready made fabric items for outdoor use make sure they are designed to handle the weather. A cheap hammock or shade for your porch swing will fade or discolor while the few extra dollars spent on the original purchase will mean a longer more colorful life for your outdoor fabric items. Look for fabrics that are made to resist molds and mildews, that are rust resistant and dry quickly. Choose fabrics that are stain resistant and easy to clean. When purchasing a sun umbrella check the UV rating. Sun umbrellas with polyurethane fabric can give you up to a rating of 50 UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor).
