A Brick Patio Gives a Good Solid Feeling to Your Backyard |

July 31, 2005 By: Fran Christie A Brick Patio Gives a Good Solid Feeling to Your BackyardA brick patio is an excellent choice for the homeowner who likes to do it him or herself. There are wonderful online sites that give step-by-step instructions for putting in simple brick patios. Most experts suggest you pay particular attention to some details. First, if you are a beginner, choose a linear design, as they are much easier than a curved design to install. Second, prepare the ground area well by making sure you dig down and make sure the area is square or plumb by measuring the diagonals. If the diagonal measurements are equal the area will be square. Level the area carefully and have it slope away from your home for proper drainage.
Not everyone wants to build his or her own patio of brick. Contactors are well able to build a simple or complex patio using bricks, tiles, paving stones, textured concrete, wood or any combination of the above. When designing unique patios especially with tiles, paving stones or textured concrete, get the experts to make it a reality.
To accent your patio made from bricks or tiles, build containers for the edges or plant small bushes to soften the perimeter. Add some built in seating or arrange your patio set for family dining. Perhaps some low lighting to enhance the mood or some overhead lighting for late night reading or scrabble with a loved one.
Make the most of your yard by creating an area where you can escape the busy world with a glass of wine and a good book or entertain friends. Relax and recharge yourself for the week ahead in your new one of a kind patio.
